Great Bear Lodge

The Great Bear Lodge is a gorgeous, floating lodge nestled in British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest. It is the perfect location for your grizzly bear experience, other wildlife viewing tours and photography opportunities.

From May through October, the lodge offers world-class wildlife viewing excursions from Port Hardy to the central coast of British Columbia. Known as the Great Bear Rainforest, this area is one of the best places in the world to observe grizzly bears and other wildlife such as wolves, black bears, otters, pine martins, mink and bald eagles.

The lodge offers eight bedrooms (en-suite bathroom and shower) and a common area for guests to relax or enjoy presentations from wildlife biologists.

Amenities & Services 
  • Rooms with en-suite bathroom and heaters
  • Maximum room occupancy: 2 adults (queen or twin beds)
  • Interpretive discussion and welcome orientation for wildlife viewing
  • Morning and afternoon bear viewing sessions, guided by a wildlife biologist
  • Wilderness-gourmet meals including complimentary wine and beer
  • Transportation to and from the Great Bear Lodge (departing from Port Hardy)
  • Interpretive walks or boat excursions
  • Use of rubber boots and rain gear, if required
  • Use of binoculars for wildlife viewing
  • Stewardship fee for bear research in British Columbia

Notes:
*The minimum age at Great Bear Lodge is 15 years old.
*Baggage allowance is limited to 30 lbs (14 kgs) per passenger.
Exceptions can be made for photography equipment.
